Template Toolkit I am going to rip your guts out

My mission for today is to learn about the Template Toolkit. I've tried to look at TT a couple of times already, each time, aw, yeah, this is going to be really easy, but I came out feeling completely mystified. So I've been putting it off, and thinking, maybe I can get away with just using BML, but since Dreamwidth as a whole wants to move from BML to TT it seems like it would be a bit perverse to do new work in BML. So, today is the day that I sit down, drink coffee, and figure it out.

I've posted this, so now I have to :-P

I've been getting better and better at Template Toolkit, so if you have questions, feel free to ask me!

And, well, if you really really want to, you can do BML, and others can translate to TT later.

I think part of the problem is that I can't find an example of a TT page that I could hack away at. I've been reading this: Routing and Template Toolkit, which gives the example of the DW/Controller/Nav.pm, which is used to generate dreamwidth.org/nav. But Nav.pm does not itself generate a webpage (I don't think), there must be some other file somewhere that uses Nav.pm to generate what you see at dreamwidth.org/nav, but I can't find it. (I naively looked for htdocs/nav.html, but it doesn't exist). Does that make any sense?

It should be views/nav.tt or something like that.
